    About the Position: The position is assigned to the Flood Plain Management Services Section/ Planning / Policy Branch in the Water Resources Division. The section is responsible for managing/executing the Flood Plain Management Services Program, under the authority provided by Section 206 of the 1960 Flood Control Act (PL 86-645) as amended, and the Virginia Silver Jackets Team for the Norfolk District in support of reducing flood risk /improving awareness within the Commonwealth of Virginia.

    • Serves as engineer responsible for assigned flood plain management related investigations conducted for civil works and military projects and shareholders.
    • Works with Project Delivery Team in of the Project Management Plan for orderly and timely accomplishment of work and monitors schedules to avoid delay and cost overruns.
    • Performs and/or directs hydraulic and hydrologic investigations.
    • Coordinates meetings with State, local, and Federal officials and Project Delivery Team (PDT).
    • Develops time and cost estimates for the project or studies.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Business travel may be up to 10%.
