    This position is located in U.S. Coast Guard, Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC), Long Range Enforcer Product Line (LREPL), Program Depot Maintenance Branch, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

    You will serve in a dual role primarily as a subject matter expert in executing planned and unplanned maintenance on the main propulsion engines employed on U.S. Coast Guard 418-foot Legend-Class National Security Cutters (NSC), as well as providing direct support to the Honolulu NSC Port Engineering detachment with the flexibility to serve in various roles within the government contract management organization.  Such roles include Port Engineer (PE), Contractor Officer's Representative (COR), and Government Inspector for contracted work spanning the spectrum of maintaining and modifying shipboard hull, mechanical, and electrical systems.

    Typical work assignments include:

    - Training and providing guidance to personnel during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance actions on NSC main diesel engines and auxiliary equipment.

    - Identifying, researching, and proposing solutions for NSC main diesel engine maintenance shortcomings and problems.

    - Providing technical oversight, leadership, training, and logistics support for organic depot maintenance and repair activities.

    - Providing Maintenance Procedures Card (MPC) and Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) development support.

    - Representing SFLC-LREPL on Integrated Project Teams (IPT) in order to collaborate on issues pertaining to the NSC propulsion system and its associated equipment.

    - Serving as Government Inspector/Quality Assurance on contracted projects, monitoring and recording contractor’s daily progress on work items within a given specification.

    - Performing as COR for depot level maintenance contracts.

    - Acting as Port Engineer for Honolulu-based NSC(s), in absence of permanently assigned personnel, performing on-site management and administration of contracted depot work projects.

    Travel Required

    25% or less - Some official travel may be directed requiring extended (6+ hour) flights on commercial airplanes and getting underway for multiple days onboard NSC platforms.
