The Department of Energy Consolidated Service Center in Oak Ridge, TN is seeking students interested in competing for an intern position that has potential to lead to permanent employment after graduation; however, conversion is not mandatory or guaranteed. Some appointments may be extended or may be eligible for conversion if eligibility requirements are met.
Students will perform a wide variety of duties in the business field designed to meet DOE’s mission and the student's learning objectives.
Work will involve progressively responsible tasks designed to increase knowledge of the laws and regulations pertaining to contractor industrial relations work. Duties will include reviewing and advising on Human Resources programs implemented by Department of Energy (DOE) contractors. Students will review and recommend collective bargaining parameters; review compensation; benefits; and related packages; assure potential contractors have drug-free workplace programs in place that comply with established standards and guidelines, and will become involved in a variety of progressively responsible functions that impact DOE contractor human resources programs.

(2) Completed a course of academic study, within the 120-day period preceding the appointment, at a
qualifying educational institutionconferring a diploma, certificate, or degree;
Receiveda favorable recommendation for appointment by an official of the
agencyor agencies in which the Intern served;
(4) Met the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted; and
agency-specific requirements as specified in the
Participant Agreementwith the Intern.

Level of Education:
- GS-4: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
