The selected individual/s will serve as an interpreter for deaf employees in a variety of settings.
Serve as an interpreter for deaf employees in a variety of settings, including meetings, seminars, conferences, or training and conduct in-house sign language instruction for employees. May be assigned other related tasks when not required to perform interpreter duties.
Must be able to translate in large group settings and work within a changing schedule.

QualificationsQualifying experience for both the EL 11 and the EL 12 are:
- Ability to interpret between ASL and spoken English.
- Degree in ASL-English interpretation; sign language interpreter certification by a recognized certifying organization such as the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and/or the National Association of the Deaf (NAD); or history of using sign language to communicate, paid or unpaid.
Potential candidates will be expected to demonstrate the ability to translate between ASL and English as part of the interview process.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This position is being filled under the non-competitive Schedule A authority, 5 C.F.R. 213.3102 (ll) for interpreters and is in the excepted service.
