This intern position performs a variety of developmental assignments as an audit or evaluation team member. Activities may include, but are not limited to the following:
The applicants selected will be offered an excepted service appointment without time limitation. After successful completion of the program requirements and based on FDIC’s needs, the selectees may be non-competitively converted to a Term or Permanent position based upon an evaluation of performance and completion of at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program. However, service in the FDIC Internship Program confers no right to further employment in the competitive or excepted service.
To be minimally qualified for the CG-04 grade level, the applicant:
To be eligible for conversion, candidate must meet the OPM qualification standards for the position to which the intern may be converted.
Please note that if you are graduating from your current academic program prior to December 31, 2020 you will not be eligible for this student appointment unless you are accepted for enrollment at a qualifying educational institution seeking an additional qualifying degree, diploma, certificate, etc., or an advanced degree. You must submit proof of acceptance along with your current transcripts for consideration.
If selected, you must sign a Pathways Participant Agreement; be able to furnish course registration information at the start of each school term; and be able to provide verification of academic status (official transcript) at the end of each academic term.

One full academic year of undergraduate; graduate; vocational; trades; technical or high school education is the number of credit hours determined by the college, university or school to represent 1 year of full-time study. The high school curriculum must be approved by a State or local governing body. All education beyond high school must be accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Conversion is not guaranteed nor an entitlement and is based on the needs of the OIG. To be eligible for conversion to an Auditor CG-511, in addition to the Pathways Program requirements the intern must also meet the positive education requirements, described below.
Positive Education Requirements:
Degree: accounting, auditing; or a degree including auditing courses in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
OR
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
