    The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area is April- October, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2020.

    Temporary positions not-to-exceed 1039 regular hours in a service year may be terminated sooner or extended depending on management needs.

    The selectee serves as a museum technician located within the Resource Management Division of the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area and will provide support to the Obed Wild and Scenic River and the Manhattan Project National Historical Park at Oak Ridge. This position will report to the Archeologist.
    Major duties of this position include:

    • Unpacks objects and processes them; performs limited cleaning; identifies preservation needs and recommends additional actions. Repacks objects with care, assuring complete labeling that preserves data associated with the objects.
    • Places objects in storage, maintaining the organization already established by the supervisor.
    • Identifies and labels objects by matching documentation field labels, notes, etc. with the objects. Prepares objects for storage or display. Inventories, documents, and stores items. Seeks assistance for situations not covered by instructions or guidelines.
    • Catalogs objects. Enters cataloging data into the designated catalog program using established NPS procedures.
