    The position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Office of Finance, Financial and Accounting Division (FAD), Accounts Payable and Receivable Branch.  The FAD provides timely processing of payment transactions to vendors, employees, and other government entities; processes vendor invoices in accordance with the Prompt Payment Act; travel; reimburses employees for miscellaneous expenses; and administers the Public Transit Subsidy Program.  FAD is subdivided into two branches: Accounts Payable and Receivable Branch and the Travel and Transportation Branch.

     As a Supervisory Accountant you will be responsible for performing the following duties:  

    • Providing full technical and administrative supervision to subordinate staff engaged in processing accounts payable and receivable, maintenance and reconciliation of general and subsidiary ledgers, and related functions. 
    • Overseeing implementation of and being in compliance with all federal laws and regulations pertaining to financial management.
    • Directing a program segment of complex professional, administrative, and technical accounting work that involves developing internal policies and procedures for accounting activities.
    • Providing timely processing of payment transactions to vendors, employees, and other government entities to include processing vendor invoices in accordance with the Prompt Payment Act; processing inter-agency transactions; and reimburses employees for miscellaneous expenses.
    • Providing authoritative analysis and advice to the Division Director on USPTO's financial accounting operations to include advising other senior management officials on accounting requirements, financial policies, and program improvements through the analysis of program operations and review of recurring reports.
    • Developing risk assessment and mitigation approaches and internal control programs.
