    Summary

    This position is in the Division of Risk and Economic Analysis (DERA), Office of Risk Assessment (ORA). The Division is headquartered in Washington, DC.

    The ORA provides economic, statistical, financial and risk modeling expertise to other offices and divisions to support supervisory, surveillance, and investigative programs related to corporate issuers, broker-dealers, investment advisers, and exchanges and trading platforms.

    Responsibilities

    • Representing the Commission as a subject matter expert in the area of "Systemic Risk Assessment" across a variety of issues concerning the detection of market place financial stability concerns, delivering briefings at conferences and meetings.
    • Providing risk assessment research, analysis, and advice to the Division, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and our domestic/international regulatory colleagues, congressional staff and industry representatives.
    • Guiding economists to build economic models designed to identify risk, organizing and directing data collection, and summarizing analysis into formal and informal presentations.
    • Providing expert advice and counsel by identifying best practices, critically reviewing proposed model methodology, and communicating effectively with practitioners and demonstrate the value of leveraging analytic techniques broadly
    • Organizing, conducting, and administering studies of long-range trends of major significance to the securities markets and the securities industry.
    • Guiding and assisting other economists in the preparation of risk assessment approaches and programs.
