    The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a supervisory contracting officer with warrant authority for an operational contracting acquisition section, planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over subordinate Contract Specialists who provide the full range of contracting support to installation organizations as assigned by the flight chief.

    Responsibilities

    • Plans and organizes the activities of an acquisition section which include the full range of contracting support to installation organizations.
    • Ensures contracting actions comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.
    • Researches, interprets, analyzes, and applies Federal, DoD and agency guidelines, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and its supplements, business and industry practices, market trends, General Accounting Office (GAO), public law, etc.
    • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
    • Participates in special projects and initiatives and performs special assignments.
    • Implements metrics and analysis systems to ensure actions are timely and reviewed at critical points in the acquisition to include propriety of method, soundness of proposed business approach, accuracy of contract type and documentation, etc.
