EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
In this position, you will serve as a Lead Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist to ensure compliance with the mandates of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) directives and other Federal guidelines governing equal employment opportunity. Typical assignments include:
- Provide EEO pre complaint counseling services and processes complex and difficult formal complaints. Serves as a Senior EEO Specialist providing technical assistance and training, of varying degrees of complexity, to lower graded EEO Specialist, and FEMA employees.
- Serving as Senior Complaints Specialist responsible for a Complaints Program. Performing the full range of EEO duties regarding complaints, e.g. counseling, analysis, investigation, and writing letters of acceptance or dismissals.
- Ensuring the enhancement, development, administration, and execution of the Complaints Program for the Agency's fulfillment of, and compliance with the mandates of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and other Federal regulations governing equal employment opportunity.
Occasional travel - This position may require non-emergency travel (5%)
