    This position is located in the Food and Drug Administration, National Center for Toxicological Research, Office of Research, Division of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics, Jefferson, Arkansas which plans and carries out research in computational chemistry, bioinformatics and pattern recognition.

    • Design and develop scientific and management software applications.
    • Participate in establishing system design characteristics to meet the requirements.
    • Investigate the suitability of specific methods, algorithms, and software approaches to particular assignments.
    • Serve as a member of a team of computer scientists and engineers that design, develop and/or modify existing software to help solve scientific computing problems.
    • Establish functional requirements through discussion with customers and observations of their methods and business processes, and investigates software architectures and development of methods to improve software re-usability and portability.
    • Participate in conferences and meetings of professional groups concerned with the application of bioinformatics and computer technologies.
    • Prepare software documentation, technical reports and presentations related to assigned projects.
