This is a full-time academic position with an initial term appointment in the excepted service starting on or about July 6, 2020, and not to exceed 2 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement, dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelors degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be evaluated on the following factors: 1) Academic accomplishment (a Ph.D. in Political Science, Economics, or an interdisciplinary field that includes these disciplines by time of appointment is preferred); 2) ) Demonstrably strong writing, presenting, and editing skills; 3) Promise or evidence of excellence in teaching at the college level ; 4) Demonstrated ability to manage academic programs;
5) Promise or evidence of excellence in advising high-achieving undergraduates (experience with advising students on graduate scholarship applications is preferred)
