    EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

    In this position, you will perform emergency management work including managing and coordinating Federal emergency preparedness activities, including: identifying and assessing risk, estimating the level of capabilities needed to address those risks, building or sustaining the required levels of capability,   developing and implementing plans to deliver those capabilities, validating and monitoring progress, and reviewing and updating efforts to promote continuous improvement. Typical assignments include:

    • Providing expert continuity guidance and advice to all Federal, State, territorial, tribal, and local governments on appropriate training programs to meet Presidential and DHS mandated and recommended continuity requirements to include coordination, oversight, management, and leadership for plans and programs, and test, training, and exercises (TT&E), multi-year strategies, and overall program implementation.
    • Assisting in developing policy guidance to FEMA Headquarters in addition to managing continuity outreach programs for all Federal, State, territorial, tribal and local governments in the region through Continuity Working Groups. Partners with, creates and cochairs continuity working groups (CWGs) with all Federal Executive Boards (FEBs) and Federal Executive Associations (FEAs)   in the region, representing the largest cities in the region, and creates and co-chairs continuity working groups with all the States in the region, in coordination with the respective State Emergency Management Agency.
    • Coordinating continuity programmatic requirements with regional FEMA leadership and staff, and with General Services Administration, Office of Personnel Management, National Archives and Records Administration, Council of State Archivists, and other government organizations in the region.
    • Managing the Region's continuity training program in coordination with the National Continuity Program Directorate's senior leadership, the Regional Federal Preparedness Coordinator, and the Emergency Management Institute.
    • Serving as the manager of and lead trainer for continuity related train-the-trainer courses.
    • Analyzing, drafting, and reviewing plans and procedures to recommend improvements to management processes and systems
