    EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

    In this position, you will serve as a Senior Mitigation Specialist and Program Manager for implementation of the FEMA pre-disaster and post disaster hazard mitigation programs. Typical assignments include:

    • Serving as a Senior Mitigation Specialist and Program Manager for implementation of the FEMA pre-disaster and post disaster hazard mitigation programs, to include: Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP); Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) program; Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) program; and mitigation under Section 406 of the Stafford Act for repair of public facilities.
    • Coordinating Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Branch staff and/or directly providing technical assistance to States, sub-applicants, and sub-recipients in the identification and selection of projects, development of complete, accurate, well-documented, and compliant project sub-application, in administration of mitigation grant programs.
    • Monitoring the status and performance of grants awarded to States, including financial tracking, funds management, and close-out of sub-grants and overall grant awards.
    • Developing materials for briefings, training workshops, and conferences.
