    Responsibilities

    At the entry level of this position, you will:

    • Serve as a technical advisor and consultant on a project(s) of national scope involving complex policy and technical issues of national concern. Responsible for providing technical advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on the adequacy of chemical monitoring methods.
    • Conduct or review analytical method development, develop methodological advances as necessary, and ensure that all analyses are sound and within the bounds of acceptable quality control and quality assurance criteria.
    • Ensure that other offices within the Agency and parties from outside of the Federal government are involved in the development of analyses and research as appropriate.  Ensures that the Engineering and Analysis Division's (EAD) analyses and methodological improvements are reviewed by external stakeholders and that comments are collected, reviewed, and incorporated as appropriate.
    • Write background and briefing papers and presents briefings to management and external groups.

    When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses.

    Occasional travel - You may be required to travel 25% or less of each month.
