The BLM administers all minerals underlying lands managed by different federal agencies, as well as the mineral estate beneath surface lands owned by non-Federal entities such as state and private landowners. This position provides land law examining and adjudication for a wide variety of difficult fluid and/or soil mineral cases, involving major interests and relative high economic values. Duties may include but are not limited to:
Physical Demands and Work Environment: The work is predominately sedentary although there is some waling, stooping, and bending involved when search for records. Work is performed in a typical office setting.

Basic Requirement:
This position has an individual occupation requirement which you must meet in order to be considered qualified. Applicants may meet this requirement if they possess the education or experience identified below:
1. Graduate education that includes at least 12 semester hours of course qoek related to the administration of land laws. Examples of course work include land surveying, cartography, land use law, real estate law, land appraising, land use planning, water rights, mining laws, or legal instrument review and interpretation. OR 2. Experience in or directly related to examination or adjudication of cases involving laws and regulations pertaining to lands and resources.
Specialized Experience:
In addition to meeting the basic requirement identified above, applicants must meet the specialized experience requirement. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled.
GS-09: You must have at least one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the next lower level (equivalent to the GS-07 grade) in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience may include: Researching and applying land law examining policy and regulations. Collecting data on a variety of cases related to lands, oil, gas, mining or minerals. Adjudicating or examining applications and claims for disposal, use or title to public lands, issue leases, licenses, or permits for land use. Preparing correspondence to process cases, including decisions. Entering and updating data related to title, use, and status of surface and subsurface interests, public lands, natural resources, and authorized uses in automated systems. OR Have successfully completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 fulls years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in administration of land laws, land surveying, cartography, land use law, real estate law, land appraising, land use planning, water rights, mining laws, or legal instrument review and interpretation, or LL.B or J.D if related.
GS-11: You must have at least one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the next lower level (equivalent to the GS-09 grade) in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience may include: Interpreting and applying land law examining policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines to process claims and applicants. Maintaining, entering, and extracting data related to plats, indices, title, use, and status of surface and subsurface interests, public lands, natural resources, and authorized uses in automated systems. Examining and interpreting a variety of legal documents such as patents, deeds, legal instruments, public land laws, or public land records. Communicating information on public land issues, resolve conflicts, and ensure collaboration on efforts to accomplish objectives. Adjudicating cases to determine history or ownership to determine data standards depicting transfer or ownership by appropriate instruments, patent, and deeds. OR Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or three full years of progressively higher graduate education leading to such a degree in the administration of land laws, land surveying, cartography, land use law, real estate law, land appraising, land use planning, water rights, mining laws, or legal instrument review and interpretation; or LL.M. if related
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
