    EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

    In this position, you will be responsible for supporting and building response operational capacities coordinating the resources of Federal, State, local, tribal, territorial, nongovernmental organizations, and private sector governments needed to effectively plan for, manage, and implement disaster response activities in large, unique, or catastrophic incidents. Typical assignments include:

    • Implementing Response Operations to include Mission Assignment management and coordinating with Federal and/or State agencies during a consequence management event.
    • Coordinating with operational staff of Federal agencies and/or State representatives during an emergency/crisis/disaster management response.
    • Working in a Regional Response Coordination Center or Emergency Operations Center integrated with Emergency Support Function partners.
    • Preparing project papers and staff reports and skill in organizing and delivering briefings to managers to encourage understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations.

    25% or less - 15% domestic travel may be required.
