    Summary

    The PET Department within the Clinical Center provides PET imaging services for both inpatient and outpatient research participants. The Radiochemistry Section in PET has the primary responsibility to manufacture PET drug products for immediate use in PET imaging studies. Individuals with relevant experience are encouraged to apply. The official title of this position is Supervisory Chemist (Radiochemistry).

    Responsibilities

    • Supervising staff and all activities of the Radiochemistry Section and managing the production of PET IND (investigational) radiopharmaceuticals for the NIH Clinical Center.
    • Overseeing, directing and supervising the day to day operations of the Facility's Production Laboratory and independently performs radiochemist duties.
    • Serving as a NIH expert on matters related to the production of PET radiopharmaceuticals.
    • Planning and directing the production of radiolabeled biological compounds for patient use.
    • Developing methods for the separation and purification of biologically active compounds from non-active contaminants.
    • Establishing stability testing procedures for PET drugs.
    • Implementing and testing new production methods to synthesize PET radiopharmaceuticals.
