    This position is located with Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Fac Mgmnt and Construction in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The mission of the DFMC is to ensure the efficient and effective stewardship of resources for new construction, renovation, and maintenance of Bureau-funded facilities, for the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE); Office of Justice Services (OJS); and Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) administrative programs.

    Responsibilities

    • Develops project management plans, establishing payment and construction schedules; determining preliminary project budget estimates.
    • Uses and/or develops standardized project management tools and techniques to ensure completion of assigned projects are on time, within budget, and of acceptable quality.
    • Supports staff for engineering issues on a variety of construction projects. Mechanical engineering requirements relate to HVAC, water, and sewage systems with fewer design and construction related questions concerning fluid dynamics.
    • Writes and/or contributes to development of scope of work, performance based standards, or prescriptive standards for planning, design, and/or construction contracts as well as the administration of the contracts with architect-engineer firms.
    • Oversight of architectural and engineering statements of work; project schedules, cost estimates, technical design reviews and analysis of drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with contract provisions.
    • Coordinates for and secures archaeological, historical preservation, environmental, and other clearances prior to construction.
    • Monitors compliance with building and safety codes and standards.
