Supervisory Contract Specialist/ PD#44232-A
Responsible for the day-to-day guidance and mentorship for non-supervisory Denver Acquisition & Logistics Center (DALC) acquisition team members who collectively supply all services, commodities, equipment, and operating materiel needed to efficiently and effectively carry out DALC's national support mission. Provide leadership for subordinates including between two and four contract specialists (GS-7 to GS-13), one procurement technician and one administrative assistant, as designated by the Division Chief, and encompasses the Acquisition Division staff members designated as performing duties related to the procurement of non-VA Contracted Healthcare Services. The DALC provides items and services directly to disabled veterans and to approximately 500 clinics and teams that support them throughout VHA and other VA entitles. The DALC mission is one of service to all Divisions and employees of the DALC as well as service directly to veterans and clinics. The adequacy and effectiveness of Acquisition division directly affects the quality of life for disabled veterans and the ability of VA to promptly and efficiently support these veterans at field facilities. The division also provides contracting support to other offices and agencies such as the Denver VA Regional Office, VA's National Cemetery Administration MSN Ill office, other OALC field activity offices, DoD and other Government agencies. Aggregate contract value for this division exceeds $4 billion, and includes contract vehicles that are complex, innovative and unprecedented in nature, and may also be politically sensitive within and outside of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Reviews, reports, and correspondence and through personal contacts, maintains surveillance over and continuously evaluates effectiveness of a national supply program in accomplishing assigned objectives. Determines underlying causes of deficiencies where they exist and initiates action to correct problems and to improve effectiveness of the contracts. Prepares reports and position papers on the effectiveness of the overall operations and develops efficient procurement strategies to ensure economy of operations and high customer satisfaction.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The subject position is primarily of an administrative nature in an office setting, however where travel to work sites is required there may be light physical work required, such as walking over uneven surfaces, or assisting technical personnel in taking measurements or elevations.
