Basic Requirement GS-1550 Computer Scientist: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of professional engineering concepts, principals, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, equipment and other engineering discipline to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principals and concepts to project development, execution and advisory services.

3. Knowledge of the principals of planning and program management; standard acquisition regulations, practices and procedures; embedded and integrated computer systems and equipment to evaluate, plan, design, test, troubleshoot, validate and oversee the development and/or sustainment of computer systems or devices.
4. Skilled in engineering process of research, development and validation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to engineering challenges and plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate and oversee the development and/or sustainment of electronic systems or devices.
5. Ability to devise and evaluate engineering criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes.
6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, in order to produce highly technical reports, position papers, and briefings; resolve conflicts based on mature judgment and experience; effectively negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships.

Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of this position at a SPRDE Level II Certification.
