About the Position: The position is located at the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command - Aviation and Missile Center, Weapons Development & Integration Directorate, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.

- Perform machining operations on Ammunition and Explosives articles using a variety of manual controlled and Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machine tool stations.
- Provide support in machining shop fabrication, machine tooling, production processes, and best engineering practices in fabrication of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDTE)/prototype missile hardware.
- Perform precision weigh-up and dimensional measurement of test specimens using dial calipers and analytical balances prior to physical testing of propellants.
- Perform mechanical property testing of Ammunition and Explosives materials (propellants and explosives), through Graphical User Interface (GUI) computer-controlled laboratory test equipment.
- Support handling, transportation, packaging, proper storage, and accountability of hazard class 1.1 and class 1.3 materials and hazardous chemicals as required by mission.
- Conduct inventories and submit adjustments into Ammunition Tracking System (AMCATS). Supports maintenance of Ammunition Data Cards, inventory, and other records necessary to properly transport and store munitions items per regulation.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in: Ammunition and Explosives Safety Certification Training, knowledge of propellants and explosives properties, machining and manufacturing technology, basic electronics, and hydraulics. Maintains appropriate certifications for Ammunition and Explosives (A&E) hands-on work including: A&E Handler/Transporter certification and forklift certification.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DE-01 (GS-04 or equivalent pay band).

Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
