    This position is located in the U.S. International Trade Commission, Office of Operations, Office of Analysis and Research Services, Statistical and Data Services Division. As a Statistician, you will be involved in the collection, compilation, and analysis of data; preparation of reports; and the presentation of relevant information. In addition, you will develop analytic and management data tools, assist others, conduct research, and assist with the advancement office initiatives.

    Statisticians provide statistical analysis and support to agency programs. They plan out and implement projects for collecting and analyzing detailed statistical data. They assist in the design and development of surveys, manage datasets incorporating primary and secondary source data, and provide in-depth, statistically and mathematically sound analyses of data and data outputs. Statisticians are responsible for the development and maintenance of statistical applications and platforms. Statisticians need to apply expertise in defining and quantifying analytical problems and suggest possible approaches to their resolution.

    Statisticians also plan, prepare, and present quantitative and qualitative formal analyses of data. They develop data tables, graphics, and charts illustrating the results of analyses. They prepare, present, and defend findings in oral and written presentations to senior staff and project team members. Additionally, Statisticians are responsible for checking reports, data tables, and associated statistical analyses for accuracy.

    Microsoft Excel and Access, SQL, SAS, and STATA will be the most commonly used software platforms to accomplish agency work. At times, use of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), JavaScript, and other computers programming languages will be necessary to efficiently complete assigned tasks.

    This position requires a high level of intellectual curiosity, resourcefulness, initiative, creativity, perseverance, and the ability to work independently.
