QUALIFICATIONS Continued:
For the DB-02 high end of the pay band equivalent to a GS-11 level: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) solving engineering problems related to areas such as technical characteristics, in the area of protective equipment; 2) use various software packages to disseminate data; 3) review regulations to determine applicability to work being performed; 4) reviewing technical adequacy of engineering documents for compliance with laws, regulations, standards, and specifications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-09 in the federal service.

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: General Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
For the DB-03 low end of the pay band equivalent to a GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes ) Solving engineering problems related to areas such as technical characteristics, compatibility with personal protective equipment, and integration of items such as clothing, individual equipment, and/or combat systems; 2) working with properties of various textile, chemical, plastic, ceramic, metallic and synthetic materials; 3) project/program planning such as problem resolution, manpower, milestones and funding schedules. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-11 in the federal service.
For the DB-03 middle of the pay band equivalent to a GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) performing engineering work that require application of specialized advanced technology and principals pertinent to concept formulation, design, development & testing; 2) application of scientific findings in such areas as human factors, material performance, root cause analysis, application of technical data, and manufacturing techniques; 3) experience with properties of various textile, chemical, plastic, ceramic, metallic or synthetic materials; 4) project management competencies, including concepts of ideas & plans total aspects of projects end programs, including problems involved, manpower, milestones, & funding schedules. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-12 in the federal service.
