The individual selected for this position will:
- Observe and monitor the management and maintenance of all computer hardware, software, and telecommunications in the Regional Census Center (RCC) and Area Census Office (ACO).
- Be responsible for the configuration of new equipment and installation or upgrade of both hardware system and application software.
- Monitor the operational and technical support activities of the RCC and ACO.
- Serves as the liaison with contractors Field Data Collection Automation (FDCA) vendor representatives, Data Capture Centers, and Headquarters automation staff to ensure a wide range of procedural and administrative automation systems are integrated into the Decennial Census.
- Supervise a subordinate staff performing distribution, inventory control, and the return of mobile computing equipment at the beginning, throughout, and close of each automated operation.
- Delegate work to subordinates based on the difficulty of the assignments and each employee's capabilities.
Occasional travel - This position requires infrequent travel.

EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes developing and implementing strategies and plans to manage automation operations; installing and upgrading computer hardware and software; interacting with individuals to communicate automated related issues and instructions; and delegating work to staff.
