    About the Position:
    Okinawa is Japan's southernmost prefecture. The islands making up Okinawa Prefecture are known as the Ryukyu Islands and have a native culture, which is distinctly different from that of the rest of Japan in terms of language, cuisine, arts, etc. The seas surrounding Okinawa's islands are among the most beautiful with coral reefs and abundant marine wildlife. Okinawa is home to a bustling international airport that hosts cheap flights to various locations in South East Asia.

    Responsibilities

    • Serve as an Environmental Scientist, performing a full range of duties required to execute installation's Environmental Management System.
    • Experience in cross functional environmental media (hazardous materials storage, waste disposal, spill response, fuels, solid waste, recycling, drinking water, etc.).
    • Experience training major and subordinate command personnel on said media for Installation-specific environmental programs.
    • Evaluate operations, projects, plans, proposals, studies, surveys, and programs for technical accuracy and regulatory compliance.
    • Leads Division contract technicians and/or lesser graded Division employees in executing projects, inspections, reviews.
    • Ensures that installation operations are environmentally compliant and acceptable and that they enhance the life of military and civilian members.
    • Conducting internal inspections and audits of said media to determine regulatory compliance with standing environmental policies.
    • Provide corrective actions and guidance both verbally and in writing for identified deficiencies on such media.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - The business travel requirement is 15%.
