    Summary

    This position is a Transportation Specialist assigned to the Office of Transportation Management (HOTM), in the Office of Operations (HOP) of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). You will work directly on the implementation of the advanced transportation and congestion management technologies deployment initiative (FAST Act section 6004). You will provide authoritative expertise and leadership in the solicitation and selection of grant awards.

    Responsibilities

    As a Transportation Specialist, you will:

    • Prepare key documents, and briefing materials for FHWA and DOT leadership on the advanced transportation and congestion management technologies deployment initiative focusing on issues, challenges, and solutions.
    • Oversee a variety of projects simultaneously, and is knowledgeable of key aspects of the federal-aid program (including planning, environment, funding and project administration through construction).
    • Prepare key documents, and briefing materials for FHWA and DOT leadership on the advanced transportation and congestion management technologies deployment initiative focusing on issues, challenges, and solutions.
    • Synthesize technical material and writes a wide variety of correspondence, briefing papers, regulations, agency directives, and other documents.
    • Serve as the Government Task Manager (GTM) on contracts/task orders for HOTM. This includes but is not limited to: preparing statements of work and independent government cost estimates, evaluating proposals and cost estimates, and recommending actions to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).

    The ideal candidate will be a mid career transportation professional, with knowledge of advanced transportation and congestion management technologies deployment and experience in the solicitation of grant awards.
