    You will help develop foundational data often based on statistical surveys in support of the mission. You will develop & report informative summary measures & indicators useful for understanding developments in the four major topic area of branch research. Finally you will perform policy ­relevant economic research on the causes & effects of structural change, productivity growth, the adoption of specific practices & technologies & investments in scientific research & development for agriculture

    Provides mentoring and staff analysis for farm structure, contracts, and animal agriculture.

    Performs oversight to the Agricultural Resource Management Survey (ARMS); provides analysis of the many critical issues related to agriculture and the rural economy, such as whole farm finance data, including data sufficient to construct estimates of income for farms; marketing information; and other economic data on input usage, production practices, and crop substitution possibilities.

    Oversees economic research on the adoption of production practices and technologies on farms; the changing organization and structure of the farm sector; and the measurement and analysis of agricultural productivity.

    Performs economic research in competition, regulation, innovation, and productivity growth in agriculture and agribusiness.

    Analyzes the consequences of public policies which relate to the specialized work of the Structure, Technology and Productivity Branch, and provides public and private decision makers with economic analyses on appropriate subjects.

    Targets the dissemination of basic statistics and data, research findings, and policy analyses toward key client groups through a wide variety of media, including situation and outlook reports,, departmental and agency reports and bulletins, electronic data products, staff analyses and briefing papers, professional journal articles, speeches, and other means.

    Performs oversight or coordination of the preparation of briefing/working papers for the Secretary of Agriculture or the Under Secretary for Research, Economics, and Education, and of position papers for national and international meetings.
