    The incumbent is a qualified, experienced Medical Technologist who serves in the Pathology and Laboratory Service at the Oklahoma City VA Healthcare facility.

    As a Medical Technologist in the Pathology and Laboratory Service at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System, you will perform a variety of testing procedures in the areas of chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, immunology, immunohematology (blood banking), serology, microbiology, flow cytometry, molecular pathology and/or specimen procurement and processing.
    Duties include, but are not limited to:

    -Develops, performs, evaluates, interprets, correlates, and validates the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results
    -Evaluates the suitability of the specimen for analysis
    -Prepares reagents and primary reference materials
    -Conducts quality control procedures on equipment, reagents, and products
    -Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs laboratory instrumentation
    -Verifies correct instrument operation
    -Standardizes, performs, and calculates results for a variety of complex tests such as special stains and procedures associated with whole blood and microbiological specimens, special cytochemical stains, body fluid analysis differentials and smears, cardiac panels, cross-matching blood, etc
    -Correlates quantitative, biochemical, physiologic, and morphologic data with other laboratory data
