This position is located in the Office of Weatherization and Intergovernmental Programs (WIP) within the Office of Technology Development of the EERE. EERE invests in clean energy technologies that strengthen the economy, reduce dependence on foreign oil, and protect the environment. EERE leverages partnerships with the private sector, state and local governments, DOE national laboratories, and universities to transform the nation’s economic engine to one powered by clean energy. The role of the WIP is to promote the adoption of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies by a wide range of customers and stakeholders, including States, communities, institutions, companies and private citizens. In particular, WIP has overall responsibility to administer the Weatherization Assistance Program and the State Energy Program.

To qualify for the grade GS-12 level candidates must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GS-11).
GS-12 Specialized experience is defined as: identifying and deploying U.S. domestic clean energy policies, best practices and tools across multiple sectors and entities to advance and or improve energy efficiency policies and programs, regional/state/local energy efficiency planning, resource standards; utility regulatory approaches, and demand-side management programs. This experience aligns to and supports DOE’s clean energy priorities. The work requires the incumbent to have the ability to successfully accelerate the adoption of energy efficiency and renewable energy policies, practices and tools that transform markets across a broad range of U.S. domestic, federal, state, utility and commercial sectors. This specific experience is essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. The work requires the selectee to possess this experience when hired and would take longer than 6 months to acquire this specific experience
