    Summary

    This position is located at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center. The incumbent in this position provides employment services for eligible Veterans. The employee is a central figure (liaison, advocate, technical advisor) responsible for the ongoing orientation and training of the Vocational Rehabilitation Program's Community Based Employment Services in order to connect Veterans to the most appropriate and least restrictive VA and/or community-based employment services.

    Responsibilities

    The incumbent works with the local Compensated Work Therapy (CWT) Manager or designee in orchestrating clinical and administrative staff, within the Medical Center and without, into a cohesive platform with which Veterans can obtain competitive employment with appropriate supports.This position has a direct impact on the local implementation of the important issue to lower barriers to Veteran employment which is a key barrier to Veterans successful re-integration and participation in their community. The position is vital in encouraging local stake-holders (e.g. Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center (BCVAMC), Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Benefit Administration, State, and private employment entities etc.) to work together towards employing Veterans with barriers to employment while reducing redundancies in services available.

    • Provides information, workforce re-entry planning services, linkage, and coordination for VA and non-VA services (that includes community-based follow-up services as needed) to integrate Veterans into the community through competitive employment.
    • Establishes respectful, effective relationships with Veterans and with the clinical and administrative staff from a wide range of State and Federal institutions and agencies and community employers.
    • Provides guidance and training to staff across the BCVAMC on resources that tend to enhance and result in competitive employment outcomes for Veterans, in particular those who have barriers to employment.
    • Works with local staff to utilize information from the Veteran Aptitude Profile (VAP) to develop individualized Veteran-centered employment service plan. Additionally will develop concise assessments (as needed) to determine the intensity level of and supports for Veterans served.
    The incumbent in this position will not be required to file a financial disclosure report.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Hours may be extended or rotated depending on the needs of our Veterans and the Medical Center.
