Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
The incumbent serves as an expert in the areas of hydrology, associated water quantity and quality, and design and interpretation of related data collection and interpretation. He/she supports WRD operational activities and is available to assist IMD Networks, Parks, Regions, and the Washington Office in hydrologic and water quantity and quality assessment, protection, and development, with an emphasis on monitoring design, standards, interpretation of related data, and development of policy and guidelines to support a national program. He/she provides scientific expertise to support oversight of National Park Service programs, initiatives, and technical teams in all areas of water quantity, quality, and pursuant data interpretation. The incumbent is responsible for supporting and further developing these capabilities through teamwork with staff of the WRD, IMD, and across the Natural Resource Stewardship and Science Directorate for the benefit of National Park Service monitoring efforts Servicewide. Provide senior level expertise to all levels of the NPS in establishing and reviewing data quality standards and guidance to ensure hydrologic data are suitable for use in current and emerging management and policy issues related to water quantity and quality.
