    What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position? 

    The duty station of this position may remain that of the selectee or may be any USGS location that is agreed upon by the selecting official and the selectee. If the agreed upon location results in the relocation of the selectee, the travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid by the Federal Government.

    As a Supervisory Hydrologist or Supervisory Physical Scientist or Supervisory Biologist with the Water Mission Area (WMA) Office of Quality Assurance (OQA), some of your specific duties will include:

    • Coordinates and oversees Technical Reviews to assure that WSC’s and WMA Divisions, Offices and Work Programs consistently follow USGS standard data collection and accepted technical procedures and that the hydrologic data and analyses produced meet USGS quality assurance standards.
    • Coordinates the development and maintenance of polices and technical guidelines.
    • Oversees the coordination, development and maintenance of guidance, best practices and tools for ensuring the quality of WMA scientific data throughout the life cycle to ensure the WMA has processes for improving and monitoring data quality and for optimizing workflows for the entire data life cycle, from planning to final release.
    • Provides technical advice and information on operational problems and serves as an advocate for bureau and WMA programs.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - An average of 5 nights per month.
