    This position is located within the Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Marine Fisheries Service, Office of Sustainable Fisheries, National Seafood Inspection Laboratory, with one vacancy in Pascagoula, MS.

    Responsibilities

    As an Interdisciplinary Supervisory Microbiologist OR Supervisory Chemist (Official Title will be determined based on the qualifications of the selectee), you will perform the following duties:

    • Direct analysis of pathogens, toxins, additives, contaminants, and seafood fraud in seafood product as the supervisor and lead analyst at the National Seafood Inspection Lab.
    • Assess reliability of results of chemical and microbiological analysis and ensure accurate analysis methods of seafood hazards.
    • Write reports and manuscripts for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), academia, and other private and public stakeholders.
    • Plan and distribute work to be accomplished by subordinates and find ways to improve and increase performance in work.

    Occasional travel - Up to 15% of domestic travel may be required
