The incumbent serves.as a financial auditor in the MidSouth Healthcare Network (VISN 9) performing duties associated with an internal control program. The primary purpose of this position is to perform audits and/or reviews of business practices associated with the financial, logistics and capital asset management operational functions by examining accounts and financial records for the purpose of certifying that business processes and practices are in compliance with the laws, regulations, directives and handbooks.
The incumbent supports VISN Executive leadership, VISN Resource subcommittee and provides technical expertise to the medical center during their participation in the Improper Payment Elimination and Recovery Act (IPERA) audit program. This work supports the overall Department of Veterans Affairs improper payment status that is reported annually in the Performance and Accountability Report.
The Incumbent meets with facility service chiefs having responsibility over programs audited as required by the IPERA audit program to document understanding of business processes and develops working relationships within each service to help the facility comply with IPERA requirements. Incumbent serves as primary IPERA point of contact for the facility and works with outside VA and contracted auditors to obtain and provide documentation requested, identify causes of errors, and coordinate and monitor corrective action plans to correct identified deficiencies.
The incumbent provides expert advice, training, technical assistance, and makes recommendations to facility executives, service chiefs and staff on improper payments regulations and VHA policies and procedures. Holds discussions with internal and external stakeholders to communicate project objectives and review results and to obtain positions on project conclusions that provide management with valuable information for decision-making purposes
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday Day shift. Flexible as long as TOD meets VISN 9 core hours requirement.
