The Chief SPS is a professional nurse who has a broad base of theoretical knowledge and supervisory experience. The incumbent is the central point within the facility providing the technical medical supply functions of collection, decontamination, processing, packaging, disinfecting, sterilizing, case-cart management distributing critical and semi-critical Reusable Medical Equipment (RME). By developing and maintaining a system of internal reviews that ensure services to point-of-care areas that operating in compliance with regulatory and accrediting organizations. The role of the Chief SPS is to act as an extension of the Associate Director, Patient Care Services in planning, directing and coordinating all reusable medical equipment (RME) functions, which insure quality patient care and growth of staff to meet this need. The Incumbent makes selections, assigns personnel, and provides direction to subordinate staff and manages the training and documentation/evaluation of staff.
The Chief SPS is accountable to the Associate Director, Patient Care Services (ADPCS).
