The Chief Education & Knowledge Management Officer (CEKMO) oversees the day to day operation of Employee Education Program including but not limited to Orientation, Mandatory Training, Continuing Education and Competency. The incumbent functions as an expert in educational practices and programs and collaborates with others. The CEKMO assesses,plans,implements and evaluates educational programming utilizing principles of adult education for employees of this facility.

The incumbent duties include but are not limited to:
1. Provide expert advice and consultation to the White River Junction VAMC Leadership and works in partnership with others on matters of all issues relating to staff education, development, competency and knowledge management.
2. Promote and enhance the competent, dedicated, compassionate and high-performing workforce through retention, recruitment and organizational initiatives.
3. CEKMO commits to ongoing, real-time learning and improvement to ensure the sustainability of quality efforts that are attentive to the business impact on the veteran experience and deliver an energetic commitment to business measurement and metrics.
4. Establish systematic approaches to support efficient and effective patient-driven care in all setting and programs. Establish educational opportunities and collaboration strategies to position all clinical staff as full partners in the health care team.
5. Create an environment of inquiry in which all WRJ employees apply the best available evidence to improve healthcare delivery and business outcomes throughout VISN & WRJ.
6. Sustain, support and develop leadership orientation, education and system wide programs/initiatives that prepare leaders for the future.
7. Design and supp01i programs to distinguish VHA as a learning organization (to include a focus on long-term retention of new employees).
8. Provides day to day leadership and smooth operations of employee education program in congruence with the VISN policies, procedures, and initiatives. Serves as education resource at VISN and Local level.
9. Writes proposals, policies, and quality improvement plans that focus on the improvement of care/services provided in the employee education program.
10. Serves as principle spokesperson and advocate for the program and the services it provides to staff, patients and their families.
11. Serves as a key member of the Medical Center and VISN managerial bodies and committees and participates in management level decision making deliberations. Works effectively with other staff and through committees to effect positive growth and change within the VISN and the medical center.
12. Maintains outstanding interpersonal relationships and collaborative skills.
13. Plays an active role in strategic planning, program evaluation, and performance improvement.
14. Maintains active enrollment in professional health care organizations at the local, regional, or national level.
15. Maintains active relationships with administrators in affiliating colleges/universities to promote positive student affiliations.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm
