    As an Aerospace Engineer the incumbent performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments and plans the implementation of projects/programs under limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, or more experienced engineer.

    Responsibilities

    With the implementation of projects/programs the incumbent applies experience and advanced knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and concepts applicable to his/her discipline to accomplish assignments and to develop plans and techniques to improve programs and policies. Defines, plans and organizes assigned resources to accomplish organizational objectives. Allocates resources to accomplish small work activities with established schedules. The incumbent supports the development, standardization, and implementation of technical procedures and policy relating to existing and future bilateral agreements, including Implementation Procedures for Airworthiness and Technical Implementation Procedures. Assists in the development and establishment of guidelines to implement existing agreements and meet U.S. International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) obligations covering a wide range of international aircraft certification functions and practices. Contacts are internal and external. May act as a key technical point of contact for assigned activities. Frequently coordinate with other AIR offices in the development, implementation, and assessment of international programs and policies and may provide assistance and technical support to Senior Foreign Affairs specialists on a wide-range of tasks including advising high-level officials of foreign governments and industry on FAA certification procedures and technical positions to facilitate the reciprocal acceptance of aeronautical products. Represents the FAA at international meetings and conferences. Supports the preparation of evaluation reports and briefing materials, and provides recommendations on program activities and accomplishments for presentation to Agency, Department, U.S. and foreign government officials. Established policies/procedures provide guidance such as Title 14 CFR parts 21,23, 25, 27, 29, 33, 45, and 183 and related FAA policies and procedures are utilized to perform the duties/responsibilities of the position and other work activities as assigned. The incumbent provides guidance to lower-level staff to solve difficult technical issues. Resolves all but unique technical problems without the intervention of management or a more experienced engineer. Often develops and recommends techniques to address problem situations. Identifies and informs management of problems that require their attention. Work is reviewed periodically, typically at major milestones and at completion, for technical compliance and alignment with the requirements of the project or other work activity. The work activities support and are vital to the success of projects and the organizational units, subdivisions, and LOB's/SO's. The work may affect the safety and security of customers.
