In collaboration with FAALC Integrated Logistics Support Managers (ILSM) and product division management, provisioners, inventory managers, and engineers, ensures the most effective, efficient, and economical means of support for the required level of service is planned for and provided during all stages of the assigned system’s life cycle.
Applies experience and advanced knowledge applicable to his/her discipline to plan and accomplish assignments. Assignments may require knowledge and experience working across functional and/or organizational lines. During the Mission Analysis, Investment Analysis and Solution Implementation phases, serves as a member of the programs’ Integrated Logistics Management Team (ILMT) and AML Depot Activation Team (DAT). Works with the FAALC ILSM to ensure integration of the 9 logistics elements including supply support, technical data, packaging/handling/storage/transportation, maintenance planning, maintenance support facilities, support equipment, computer resources support, training/training support/personnel skills, and direct work maintenance staffing as appropriate. Assists in the development and review of key logistics documents, including but not limited to contract SOW/CDRL/s/DIDs, integrated logistics support plan (ILSP), and legacy system disposition plans in accordance with established FAA Acquisition Management System (AMS) policies and procedures.
Demonstrates considerable independence in planning time and helping a manager, project/program manager, and/or team leader to plan and use assigned resources to accomplish projects/programs/activities.
Contacts typically are internal and external, with regular contacts among major subdivisions and LOB’s/SO’s, customers, and other external parties to share information about the FAA and explain the applications of policies and procedures. During the In-Service Management phase, takes on lead logistics responsibilities for the production division in support through the life-cycle of the operational NAS system. Serves as the product division’s primary point of contact, both internally and externally, for logistics and sustainment issues. External stakeholders include, but are not limited to Second Level Engineering (AJW-14), NAS Integration and Support Group (AJW-13), and the program office (AJM-32/33). Responsible for developing and conducting annual system Sustainment Reviews to product division management. Key tasks include collection of sustainment data, incorporating feedback from team members, summarization of issues, determination of sustainment risks, tracking of action items, and making corrective action recommendations to management. When requested, also supports follow-on Supportability Review activities with additional FAA support organization stakeholders.
Other responsibilities include coordinating and attending system-related logistics support meetings including possible travel for program management reviews, logistics planning meetings, post-award conferences, and other technical interchange meetings when requested.
Plans for changes to the supply support and repair methodology of a system. Creates and updates required documentation to support these changes; i.e., transition plan, SOW, CDRLs/DIDs, etc. Serve as service order manager for service order agreements. Collecting sustainment data and providing reports or recommendations to support Service Life Extension Programs (SLEP), Technical Refreshes, and new NAS system acquisitions when requested. Coordinating responses to field and system support issues for management or other external AML customers.
Resolves most problems and work issues without the assistance of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. Work is reviewed periodically, typically at major milestones and at completion, for policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities.
Occasional travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other work-related duties.
