    Summary

    The Pathways Program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed. Students who successfully complete the program may be eligible for conversion to a permanent position in the civil service.

    Responsibilities

    This position starts at a salary of $24,773.00 (GS-2, Step 1) to $35,139.00 (GS-3, Step 10).

    Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Trade, located in the following locations:

    • Houston, TX
    • Miami, FL
    • Washington, DC

    Typical duties of an Intern will include:
    • Participating in conducting research using various sources to learn the technical aspect
      of trade compliance and enforcement and to be able to gain an understanding in
      addition to addressing questions from stakeholders.
    • Assisting higher-graded ITA in general administrative support, including responding to routine inquiries, special projects, and preparing and/or editing correspondence.
    • Assisting in developing briefings, issue papers, presentations, and conference materials.
    • Participating and contributes in scheduled meetings and conferences. Assembles and
      analyzes information to draw a logical conclusion regarding non-complex trade
      issues.
    • Assisting in the monitoring, analyses, and evaluation of operations and program performance
      variables and trade data from historical and current importation information gathered from
      various sources.
