The Social Worker Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) serves in a full-time administrative position assigned to Social Work Service (SWS). This social worker is a program coordinator with supervisory duties. He/She has full authority and responsibility for all administrative and clinical aspects of the entire Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Program at four locations. As such, he/she is directly responsible for the following 46 staff:

Open to current permanent VHA employees, first consideration will be given to the current permanent employees of the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VAMC, it's Health Care Centers (HCC) and Community Based Out Patient Clinics (CBOB's).
The incumbent supervises a group of employees performing work at the GS-12 level and below, including advanced practice social workers and social work program coordinators. The HCHV Coordinator provides administrative, technical, and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the HCHV program. He/she performs the administrative and personnel management functions relative to the staff supervised. The HCHV Coordinator has established guidelines and performance expectations for staff, clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system. He/she observes workers' performance; demonstrates and conducts work performance critiques and provides informal feedback, periodically evaluating employee performance. The HCHV Coordinator works to resolves informal complaints and grievances; develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary; provides advice and counsel to staff related to work and administrative matters; invokes disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated; reviews and approves/disapproves leave requests; assures that subordinates are trained and fully comply with the provisions of safety regulations.
