    Responsibilities

    As a Marine Biologist, you will perform the following duties:

    • Serves as the Dive Center and Laboratory Research Manager for Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC) coordinating, promoting, and executing training and oversight of divers and lab users working in the Dive Center and Laboratories located at the Inouye Regional Center (IRC)
    • Provides oversight and adherence of safe diving protocols as diver master on research activities and missions abroad NOAA ships, small boats and charters
    • Oversees adherence to safety protocols, and coordinates the research use of common-use areas, IRC Dive Center equipment, laboratory research operations, the use of laboratory workspaces, and disposal of laboratory wastes
    • Develops, updates, and maintains laboratory standards, chemical inventory, chemical hygiene plan, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for lab equipment and use, and up-to-date Biology and Chemistry Laboratories information on Google Sites

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - 5% of domestic travel may be required.
