    The Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) (USD(C)) is responsible for carrying out the functions assigned by section 135 of Title 10 of the United States Code and ensuring that the utmost economy and efficiency is applied in the operations of the Department of Defense (DoD) through sound business management and effective fiscal planning and control.

    Your typical work assignments may include the following:

    • Serves as a Management Analyst assisting the Human Capital Officer and the HC&RM Director with daily mission functions, operations, and varied programs that impact the strategic direction of the OUSD(C) enterprise.
    • Assists the Human Capital Officer in overseeing, planning, implementing projects and programs, and advising senior leadership on a wide range of management, functional, and operational Human Capital Management activities and subjects.
    • Manages the performance appraisal program and talent management and succession planning for senior executives, HQE, and GS employees within the OUSD(C).
    • Overseas and administers requests for HR actions (i.e., recruitment, promotion, reassignment, etc.) to assure that all cases are properly supported and consistent with sound management principles and practices.
    • Maintains close liaison with Washington Headquarters Services (WIIS), White House Liaison Office (WHLO), the Director for Administration & Management (DA&M), or other appropriate offices to ensure that all actions are processed expeditiously and/or to provide additional information and/or documentation to effect actions.
