    EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

    This position is located within the Office of the Chief Component Human Capital Officer (OCCHCO) in the Disaster Field Operations Division.

    The ideal candidate is someone who is proactive, and is able to make discerning decisions, evaluate all available alternatives and recommend and implement solutions. This candidate is able to anticipate issues and is forward thinking, staying apprised of constantly changing priorities and leadership direction. The candidate will have experience working in an extremely fast paced environment and/or working with emergency response or similar environment. He/she is able to demonstrate resiliency and strong leadership in managing multiple programs.

    In this position, you will plan, control, direct, coordinate and manage the work of specialists, professional, and administrative support personnel engaged carrying out the varied human resource functions within FEMA. You will provide oversight and guidance to staff, ensuring the comprehensive evaluation of organizational goals, objectives, achievements, staffing, and equipment requirements, and organizational structure. In addition, you will conducts a comprehensive and continuing evaluation of the effectiveness and adequacy of program operations; regularly assessing the policies, procedures, methods, and systems used by FEMA and their impact on human resources management programs.
