    As a Fish Biologist ZP-482-3, you will perform the following duties:

    • Conduct routine survey data collection and sample processing to support stock assessment of federally managed living marine resources.
    • Test new methods of data collection and incorporate best practices that reduce bias, increase precision, and minimize costs.
    • Interact with the stock assessment process, improving QA/QC of data to make the assessments more biologically realistic.
    • Design and query large relational databases, such as oracle
    • Utilize advanced statistical and modeling programs, such as R or AD model builder, to analyze data regarding biology and ecology of fishery resources.
    • Assist supervisor in routine administrative duties including micro purchasing of supplies, and providing feedback on planning of operations and/ or research.
    • Write and propose intramural and extramural grant proposals, introduce new technology and build novel partnerships for research projects related to NOAA Fisheries’ mission.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - 25% of domestic travel may be required.
