    Summary

    This position is located in the Division of Cosmetics, Office of Cosmetics and Colors, Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition which ensures that domestic and imported cosmetics are unadulterated and made from appropriate ingredients and that labeling is truthful and informative.

    Responsibilities

    • Concentrates on complex, long-range, and emerging problems and conflicts in the evaluation and regulation of cosmetic products and ingredients; keeps abreast of crucial and precedent cases under review
    • Briefs Office Director, Center Officials, and Agency on problems related to evaluation and regulation of cosmetic products and ingredients
    • Receives unique, far-reaching and previously unresolved problems for resolution; researches problems with in-depth methodology, carries out studies, and consults with other professionals
    • Conceives and develops approaches and makes final decisions that may become part of Office policy and/or procedure;
    • Works toward the development of standards of scientific and regulatory excellence in safety evaluation and regulation of cosmetic products and ingredients
    • Counsels and trains team members; explains critical and significant scientific and regulatory concepts; and establishes methodologies, procedures, guidelines and policies.

    25% or less - You may be expected to travel for this position.
