The RN Care Navigator for Women provides professional assessment, coordination and planning of multiple health care services; acts on behalf of the Veteran to assure that necessary clinical services are received and that progress is being made. In addition, the RN Care Navigator for Women provides ongoing evaluation of care management services in, cervical cancer screening/PAP's, mammography, breast care registry, and maternity programs.Learn more about this agency
The RN Care Navigator for Women is directly responsible to the Chief Nurse for Primary Care; Coordinates with the Women Veterans Program Manager; the Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for the provision of direct patient care and for the delivery of quality nursing care to a culturally diverse Veteran patient population. The Registered Nurse possesses the knowledge and skills to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting.
This enables effective implementation of:
- Health promotion and prevention practices
- Management of acute and chronic illnesses
- Attainment of optimal levels of functioning
- Support of the patient and significant others
Role responsibilities and accountabilities also include demonstration of knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age related needs of patients served in the assigned area of practice. This knowledge includes understanding of gender specific health concerns unique to women, as well as; changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the adult and geriatric population.
The Registered Nurse is also responsible and accountable for maintaining BLS and/or ACLS training when required and for performing activities that reflect the educational, experiential and competency requirements outlined in the four (4) dimensions:

In addition, the Registered Nurse is accountable and responsible for possessing the knowledge and skills to:
- Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with all internal and external customers.
- Maintain confidentiality of electronic, written, and/or verbal patient/employee information.
- Demonstrate working practices that include adherence to Infection Control standards and the safe use and operation of equipment.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
