    What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position?

    Salary: $46,859 (Step 01) to $60,919 (Step 10); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01. 

    The incumbent of this position is entitled to a cost of living allowance (COLA) of 3.27% in addition to the salary. COLA may be subject to change at any time.

    There is one vacancy; however, this announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies if they become available.

    As a Geologist within the Alaska Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

    - Uses ArcGIS to capture geologic and sample data from scanned map images

    - Uses software (such as Filemaker Pro) with ArcGIS and/or Google Earth to update location coordinates in the Alaska Resource Data File.

    - Assists in the preparation of geologic data for display or presentation as part of data analysis efforts.

    - Assists in packaging samples to be sent for analysis.

    - Provides informal editing and review of manuscripts and maps being prepared for formal review and publication.

    - Operates a government motor vehicle as an incidental driver.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Occasional travel away from home may be required 1-5 nights per month.
