    About the Position: Oversees a continuing military history book publishing program. Uses experience as published author and advanced knowledge of military history historiography to assess all submitted historical manuscripts. Acquires and assesses historical manuscripts from authors external to Army University Press.

    Responsibilities

    • Serves as direct supervisor for a staff of editors and historians.
    • Manages historical research program, utilizing his or her highly specialized knowledge of recent Army, Department of Defense, and world history to determine which topics are chosen for research.
    • Oversees a continuing military history book publishing program.
    • Uses experience as published author and advanced knowledge of military history historiography to assess all submitted historical manuscripts. Acquires and assesses historical manuscripts from authors external to Army University Press.
    • Engages in professional development activities, including preparation and presentation of scholarly papers and articles in his or her area of expertise.
    • Represents the Department of Defense, the Department of the Army, and the Army University Press at meetings and conferences of professional historical, military, and other, related, organizations.

    Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position (approximately 10%).
