    Summary

    The incumbent of this position is located in a Field Maintenance Party (FMP) unit within the Northwest Mountain Region and accomplishes routine and emergency repair, evaluation, and installation of plants and structures facilities, including radar, communications, and navigational aid antenna systems. Extensive travel is required throughout the region.

    Responsibilities

    Serves as a Maintenance Mechanic located with Engineering Services. The incumbent accomplishes routine and emergency repair, evaluation, and installation of plants and structures, facilities, including environmental systems, radar, communication and navigational aid antenna systems. Applies general knowledge of electronic systems and equipment involved in work assignments; takes necessary precautions to avoid interference with operations of the system or damage to its equipment.

    Works alone or in a group performing Mechanical, Electrical, Carpentry, Plumbing, Cable Installation/Replacement, Welding/Metal Fabrication, and Painting.

    This position requires knowledge and application of materials; and safety and security regulations, practices and procedures. Works from blueprints, work orders, plans, sketches and other written specifications and oral instructions. Must be able to maintain, repair and use a variety of hand tools, testing equipment and power equipment characteristic of the various trades.

    Extensive travel is required throughout the region.

    The incumbent must operate diesel/gasoline powered heavy equipment such as trenchers, backhoes, boom trucks and trailers.
